Current ramp levels are as follows:

North Somerfield Ramp: 37′

South Somerfield Ramp: 100′

Although the South ramp (within the marina) is only loosing 2′ per day, the docks along the shoreline are still at 5′-12′ (increases from 1 - 9). Dock 9 is going to be finished today when it comes to all boats and jet ski docks removed. All boats that have been moved have been recorded as to where they were moved to. Stop at the office to find out where the boat is tied up.

All customers are urged to have their boats out by next weekend - September 12, 2010. If there are any questions feel free to call us 814-395-3423.

Good Morning Boating Friends!

Today’s update is to let you know that the ramps are at the same measurement as yesterday.

43′ North Somerfield Ramp

102′ South Somerfield Ramp

GOOD NEWS….. The release schedule went back down to 520 instead of the 720 that was projected on Septemer 2nd. So the water should continue to drop as it has been:  5′ down by docks 1-6  and 10′-12′ docks 7-9.

~ HAVE A GREAT LABOR DAY WEEKEND EVERYONE ~

~BE SAFE ON THE WATERWAY & ROADWAYS ALIKE ~

Lake Conditions for boaters

For those of you that have not been to the marina please read prior post and be aware of the current water level.

The lake is very narrow at this time and depending on traffic over the holiday weekend we may be very busy. Saturday is only to be in the upper 60’s/low 70’s with possible showers so Saturday may not be so bad. Sunday and Monday are upper 70’s and sunny.

I have received a lot of feed back that everyone is favoring the middle of the lake. Please be extra careful this weekend and have a happy and safe holiday.

Friday, September 3, 2010

Good Morning Everyone, just wanted to post the most current conditions for you.

North Somerfield Ramp: 43′

South Somerfield Ramp:  102′

Release schedule is 520 today, but does increase starting Sat 9/4/10 to 720. We can not verify what the drop on the shoreline will increase to at this point. We will post it as soon as we have it recorded.

All boats and jet skis on dock 9 are being moved and/or pulled today so we can turn the dock.

Pictures of the shoreline

I have posted pictures taken this morning 9-2-2010 of the shoreline if anyone would like to see them. You need to go to u local on the Channel 4 (WTAE) web site - in the search bar enter Yough Lake.

Winter Storage 2010-2011

For those of you who would like indoor storage this year, we are offering storage priced at $18.00 a foot. We did decide not to mail out contracts mid August, the building was in the process of final repairs from the snow damage this past winter and we wanted to make sure it was done and secure before we offered the services to you.

However, we will not be winterizing. In the beginning of the 2010 season, following a great deal of deliberation, the owner made the decision that the service department would close until further notice. Without a mechanic, we can’t offer you winterizing services. You still have the option to have us pull & launch your boat, clean the hull, and the indoor storage. Stop in if you would like a contract for the 2010-2011 Winter Storage season.  For those of you that have had us service your boat for the past several years, we apologize for the inconvenience.

September 1, 2010

The water level is currently at 1413.10. While there is still around 50′ on the North side ramp and 100′ on the Marina ramp, the level is low enough that the cliff will be peaking soon. For those of you that have been here, one of the three stump that appear when the cliff is near is now partially out of water vs. three days ago. The cliff does hinder access to docks 1 - 6. The docks will continue to be moved daily to keep up with the dropping water level, so the severity of how bad this will be by Saturday is unknown right now. Docks 7, 8, & 9 are in shallow water also being maintained on a daily basis, causing the shoreline in front of them to be very soft and muddy. Exercise caution this upcoming holiday weekend (and every day of course) and be sure to advise any of your visitors of current shoreline conditions.

Current observations

South end of lake (Maryland) is very low and depth finders would be good things if navigating that end.

Markers on our ramp (starting at 100′) have not appeared out of water yet, meaning we still have over 100′ on the ramp within the marina (Somerfield South). Somerfield North is right below 70′.

Shoreline is very soft & muddy by docks 7, 8, and 9 and water is shallow. Shoreline is becoming steeper by the day with docks 1 - 6, with the cliff to start appearing anytime now. Please be very careful getting to your dock.

All beach areas on the lake are closed for the season.

2010 End of Season Sale

The end of the season sale started on August 28, 2010. A week early for the low water levels. All tubes, clothing, life jackets, and various cleaners are marked down. Sale will continue through the season’s end date - September 15, 2010.

Current Water Level Predictions

Current water level predictions state that the level will be at 1411 by September 1, 2010; 1408 by September 8th; 1402 by September 15th. Somerfield North Ramp on Sunday August 29th is at 70′ and is loosing 5-8′ a day.
